Intro
Welcome to the Guardians of the United Methodist!
Join us - as we energize the #StayUMC @ Bethany group into volunteering and taking a more active role in the future of Bethany.
We are committed to staying together, inclusive changes needed, re-emerging via the Spirit and healing as a congregation.
- Are you committed to uphold the United Methodist Church in your prayers, your presence, your gifts, your service, and your witness?
- Do you want Bethany to remain in the United Methodist Church?
- Do you believe change is needed (as the lead team spoke about )
- to be more inviting,
- to be more welcoming of ALL views: traditionalist, moderates and progressives,
- not tolerate any language that does harm.
- Do you see value in maintaining the interconnectedness in missions, hospitals, and colleges?
- Do you believe the best option in reconciling Bethany's diverse congregation is through proven Wesleyan and connectionalism ideology matured by the United Methodist Church?
- Do you see the positive future of United Methodist Church as we work on removing all divisive language from our Book of Discipline? (Win-Win for everyone)
- Do you see a church where all people are on equal footing and the conscience of our clergy are embraced and empowered?
- Do you believe that all things are possible through the Spirit - even the financial future of Bethany and the United Methodist Church.
This blog is to communicate the views of those who are committed to Bethany #StayUMC. Our goals are:
- Work towards getting as many members to vote NO to Disaffiliation.
- Provide a vision for an inclusive and affirming church - where ALL are welcomed, including traditionalist, progressives and centrist
- Provide a common place to get resources and hear advocates for #StayUMC
If you want Bethany UMC to become a genuine inclusive church for all, vote to #StayUMC. If your God is calling you to independence, we want you to hear - we love you and want you in our church. However you vote, we will honor and affirm your viewpoints. To the Glory of God.
