Contributing - Guidelines

 Below are the guidelines to add to the StayUMC @ Bethany community. 

1. You must be a church member - affirm when you submit. 

2. You are committed to staying with UMC and declare you will be voting NO TO AFFILIATION. 
     (We welcome opposing views and recommend a separate site be made available.)

3. You contribution must be positive and should not contain any harmful words/views - to any single individual, any leader, any clergy or any Methodist Organization.   Your contribution will be reviewed with the Allies steering committee. 

4. We ask for content that is short and too the point.   There will be no limit but try to make your message positive and clear.   We are not trying to convince anyone to change their conscience.   Share your views and let the Spirit do it's work. 

5. Submit your content in the form of an email or one of Word/Google doc.  Send to one of the Allies leaders - it will get to the Blog editors. 

Here is what we recommend your contribution contains.  

Please keep it short (30-60 seconds max)

A.  Hello, my name is __________, I believe Bethany should StayUMC and I intent to vote NO to disaffiliation. "

B. Proview 1-3 reasons (be very succinct) for your decision. 

• avoid lecturing
• use "I" statements
• respect other's viewpoints
• Please speak with grace and respect

C. Finish with prayers for all in Bethany and let people know your plans depending on the outcome. 

D. Personal story/background for your submission.   Please avoid naming specific persons/names.
