Q3. How will we discuss our church with youths?

#StayUMC Recommends Voting NO TO DISAFFILIATION.   The UMC is a proven, low risk and strong evangelical partner that aligns with values and principles of Bethany's diverse members.

At a recent church class discussion the question was asked - "How will we talk with youths after we vote? (ie. about sexuality and/or other doctrines).

In our Bethany's Sexuality class if a youth should ask "I think I may be gay what should I do?" how should leaders respond?

The guidance suggested to all youth leaders is to answer  - "You should talk with your parents.".

The key focus of Bethany's Sexuality class is too a) educate and b) ensure youth understand that sexuality is a blessing from God.  The answer to the above question validates:

  1. the family unit is the core connectional network of any community.
  2. makes it clear that there is always an authority we can go too: God, the father/mother.

The point of this post is that our God is so much greater then this,

our differences WILL NOT BE RESOLVED by a VOTE,
our differences WILL NOT BE RESOLVED by joining any polity organization,
our differences WILL NOT BE RESOLVED by however many small group/class meetings we hold.

Our differences are NOT a problem.

  • any differences between our members are NOT a problem, but are a BLESSING,
  • any differences with UMC are NOT a problem, but are a BLESSING,
  • the differences across all small groups are NOT a problem, they are our greatest BLESSING.
